About The Artist

Maiko Maul was born in 1983 in the Vogtland town of Plauen. His talent for drawing was recognized early on. Since 1990, he developed an unbroken fascination with prehistoric creatures, especially dinosaurs and pterosaurs. Maiko improved his skills self-taught and developed a fine, naturalistic style, predominantly executed with pencil. During this process, he repeatedly experienced flow states, in which structures and delicate details seemed to be merely traced by a patient hand, as if projected from within onto the paper.

In his early adult years, he held small exhibitions, including at the Witzenhausen tax office in 2009 and the year before at the cafeteria of the University of Göttingen at Wilhelmsplatz.

After a long creative hiatus in the artistic field, he made a comeback in late 2023. This time, watercolor pencils became his medium of choice. This period saw the creation of his first works in color and black and white.

Digital versions of the previous works have been created, which aim to intensify the original drawings’ character with color differentiation.

You can purchase these as postcards, posters, and photo prints.
